How GPA is calculated
A GPA is normally a weighted average: a four-credit class influences the result more than a one-credit class.

For each course, multiply its grade-point value by its credit weight. Add those quality points and divide by total attempted credits.

A two-course example
An A in a three-credit course and a B in a one-credit course produces 15 quality points across four credits, or a 3.75 GPA on that scale.

Your institution defines the scale
Plus/minus grades, pass/fail courses, repeats, honors weighting, and transfer credits are handled differently. Use the grade-point values and inclusion rules published by your school.
