Calorie calculator
Estimate resting and total daily calorie needs with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and explicit activity factors.
Estimate daily calorie needs.
Estimate resting and total daily energy with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation. This is a population-level screening estimate, not nutrition advice.
COMMON WAYS TO ASK
- How many calories do I need a day?
- Calculate BMR and TDEE
- Maintenance calories estimate
What this calculator tells you.
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation estimates resting energy from weight, height, age, and sex; an explicit activity factor scales it to a daily total. Both numbers are population-level estimates, not a prescription.

Questions people ask next.
Why does the equation ask for sex?
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation was fitted with separate constants for males and females because average body composition differs. It cannot represent every body; treat the output as a starting range.
Can I use this to plan weight loss?
The tool only estimates maintenance energy. Changing intake for weight goals — especially with any medical condition, medication, or pregnancy — belongs in a conversation with a clinician or registered dietitian.
