Check the printer’s specification. If it supports only 2.4 GHz, it must join a network name that the router broadcasts on that band; some routers hide the bands behind one name and steer devices, which can confuse a printer during setup.

WPS, panel setup, and app setup all end in the same place.

Use the printer’s own wireless setup wizard or the manufacturer app, and enter the exact network name and password. AirPrint and similar systems then discover the printer automatically on the same network without extra drivers.

In the router, give the printer a DHCP reservation so it keeps the same IP across reboots. Computers that connect by address stop losing the printer, and troubleshooting becomes repeatable.

A printer that drops off nightly is often at the edge of coverage. Move it closer to the router, add a wired connection if the printer has an Ethernet port, or fix the coverage gap with the router placement guide rather than blaming the printer.

A sleeping printer must wake and re-announce itself.

Deep sleep modes can delay discovery for a minute after the first job; a printer that “appears” after a retry is behaving normally. Adjust the sleep timer if the delay is a daily annoyance, and prefer a wired or reserved-address setup for shared printers.
