Washer Not Draining: Safe Checks

Water weight and door locks can turn a small problem into damage.

Stop the cycle, follow the model instructions for emergency drain or door release, protect the floor, and do not force a locked door. Disconnect power only when it is safe and accessible.

Some programs hold water or delay spin.

Confirm the selected cycle, child lock, pause state, and load balance. Record error codes before clearing them. Remove only items and water as the manufacturer procedure allows.

Kinks, excessive insertion, or a clogged user filter can block flow.

Keep the drain hose at the specified height and routing. Clean only a clearly documented, user-removable filter, with towels and a shallow container ready for released water.

Internal pumps and wiring are service work.

A humming pump with no flow, recurring breaker trip, burning smell, leak from the cabinet, or continued standing water after external checks needs qualified appliance service.
